In the 11th Velvi Discourse (2001), Gurumahan Urges Us to Look Beyond Appearances and Miracles and Walk the Hidden Path to the Thousand-Petaled Wisdom Within!
True wisdom (Mei Jnanam) is the knowledge of knowing one's Self. True wisdom includes two things: knowledge of the outer world that we understand through appearances, and self-knowledge that we gain about ourselves. Sometimes a person gains self-knowledge. We can see many sages who attain wisdom, yet they may not understand people’s minds. Even if they gain self-knowledge, they may not know the attitudes, outer lives, and appearances of many people. Still, they do not need to stay only in the Himalayas or caves to do penance. Many unknown sages live in villages. Many realized beings still live among us.
You think that if someone is a sage or realized soul, they must perform miracles or show something extraordinary for you to recognize them. You long only for outer signs. That is not the truth. They wait only to help you attain what you must truly attain beyond these signs. When a truthful person approaches them, they remove outer appearances and reveal truth. That is why sages live in villages. They renounce worldly desires and sensory pleasures, yet live a detached life even while staying in family life.
If we fail to recognize them and instead disrespect them, they still focus their countless energies and rise to a state beyond thoughts. When they reach thought-less state, any thought they think becomes powerful. From there, whatever you ask from the Universe and its movement, you receive. That is why the Puranas call it Kamadhenu and Kalpaka Tree (Vriksha). That wish-fulfilling tree and Kamadhenu exist at the Crown chakra. The thousand-petaled lotus lies beyond six oceans and six mountains, in a cave on the seventh mountain. If you cross those six mountains and six oceans (six Chakras) and reach that place (Crown), whatever you think under that wish-fulfilling tree will happen. There lies infinite power, and there itself is the true Self (Atma). Go there and ask for your boon.
