Stefan Thomas is the author of Business Networking for Dummies, the founder of Connect Network, and a professional speaker and MC. His clients include BT, Lloyds Bank, The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the Loo of the Year Awards and many more.
He lives in Oxfordshire with his wife Sharon and between them they have five grown up children. Outside of work, Stefan is still a punk and has been to over 750 punk gigs in his lifetime - and has several already booked this year!
In this episode we started by asking Stefan about his role as MC for the Loo Of The Year Awards, which is something he has a vested interest in as an ulcerative colitis sufferer. We loved his quote from Becky Wall, the owner of the awards, which is: "poo is the last taboo!". It probably is, and it really shouldn't be!
Then we asked him - given his background as a veteran networker with huge expertise, has written books, coached people on speaking and networking etc - what brings him the most joy about networking.
We finished by asking him how he feels he's making a positive difference in the world.
Then it was time to turn the tables and let him ask a question of us, so he asked what changes we've seen in business along the way, both positive and negative.
We came away from this one feeling really uplifted and, yet again, it's great to be able to shine a light on things that are still surrounded by taboo; something we love to do on this show!
