In this episode of Wedding Mayhem, Sharon is joined by Holly from Blank Canvas Weddings and Craig Little from The Everyday DJ Company to talk all things wedding music, playlists and packed dance floors. Craig shares how he accidentally fell into DJing after stepping in to help at a friend’s wedding, and how that one night eventually turned into a career spanning more than a decade.
The conversation gets into what really makes a great wedding party, from choosing the right first dance and handling guest requests to why couples shouldn’t expect their DJ to simply work through a huge Spotify playlist. Craig explains the importance of reading the room, trusting your DJ and choosing music that works for the whole wedding rather than just individual tastes. There are also plenty of stories from the dance floor, including songs that have completely killed the atmosphere and why sometimes the bride and groom’s “must plays” don’t quite go to plan.
Craig also shares some brilliant stories from his career, including DJing at Wentworth Golf Club for Jake Bongiovi’s 21st birthday, where Millie Bobby Brown was among the guests. From celebrity parties and wedding music mistakes to Mr Brightside, the Cha Cha Slide and the songs Craig would happily never play again, it’s an honest and entertaining look at what really goes into keeping a wedding dance floor alive.
