A Prayer for When We’re Not Ready to Hear
Loving God,
Sometimes we hear something
we’re not ready to receive—
and we turn away,
close ourselves off,
or resist what is being said.
Not always because it is wrong,
but because it asks something of us
we’re not yet prepared to give.
Meet us in those moments.
Not with pressure—
but with patience.
Not with force—
but with a steady invitation
we can grow into.
Give us the courage
to remain open
just a little longer—
to listen
just a little more closely—
and to allow
what we are hearing
to settle within us over time.
Help us to respond
not out of fear or resistance,
but from a place
that is being shaped by your love.
