Listen

Description

Your child says something that stops your heart, and suddenly you’re in panic, searching for the “right” words while your body locks into fight, flight, or freeze. We know that moment, and we also know how lonely it can feel when you’re trying to keep your child safe through depression, self-harm, or suicidal thinking.

We talk through SAFE, the simple acronym Teri created for parents who need a clear checklist when everything feels too much: Safety check, Anchor (or Arise), Feel don’t fix, Exhale. We get specific about what “safety” can mean in real life, why this isn’t bypassing or waiting things out, and how nervous system regulation helps you make better decisions quickly.

From grounding postures and the conscious pause, to building emotional safety at home, we explore how connection can stay intact even while you take practical action and seek professional support. We also unpack why “fixing” can accidentally communicate fear or shame, and how feeling with your child often opens the door to honesty, dialogue, and safer next steps, including the beginnings of a safety plan.

If you’re navigating teen mental health, conscious parenting in crisis, or you simply want tools for calmer co-regulation, this conversation is for you. Subscribe, share this with a parent who needs it, and leave a review so more families can find the support.
