"Text us your thoughts and questions!"
In continuing our series on avoidance, we invite you to explore where avoidance has resulted in regret? Learn how to handle difficult choice points with more awareness to reduce regret and how to reframe regrets so you can learn and let go.
COMMON TYPES OF REGRET
- 1. Not expressing feelings or resolving conflicts - People deeply regret harsh words left as final conversations or love never spoken, especially after someone dies.
- 2. Staying too long in unfulfilling relationships or jobs - The regret of wasted years in situations that drained rather than nourished them.
- 3. Not taking care of their health when they were younger - Particularly around diet, exercise, sleep, and avoiding harmful substances.
- 4. Playing it too safe - Not taking reasonable risks on career opportunities, travel, creative pursuits, or speaking up for their beliefs.
- 5. Losing touch with important friendships - Letting meaningful relationships drift away due to neglect or petty disagreements.
- 6. Not spending enough quality time with family - Especially with parents before they pass away or with children during their formative years.
- 7. Working too much at the expense of life experiences - The classic "no one on their deathbed wishes they'd spent more time at the office" regret.
- 8. Not pursuing education or learning opportunities - Whether formal education or skills they were passionate about but never developed.
- 9. Caring too much about others' opinions - Making major life decisions based on external validation rather than personal values and desires.
- 10. Not being true to themselves - Living according to others' expectations rather than discovering and pursuing their authentic self.
