This week on The Courage Coalition, we close out the BEAM process with the letter M—Mindset. Mindset is a circle it always brings us back to our beliefs and our values. Too often we attach our worth to numbers in the bank or benefits on paper and call that success. But true abundance isn’t just a dollar figure. Abundance is freedom of time, freedom of relationships, freedom of choice, and the courage to live aligned with your values. It’s the ability to change your mind and create a new story, no matter what chapter you find yourself in.
I’ve lived both sides. On paper, Chad and I had it all great jobs, six figures, retirement accounts, travel, the “successful” middle-class story. But the cost was stress, time away, and a life that didn’t feel like ours. Choosing to walk away and rebuild in Montana was messy and far from perfect. Yet that decision taught us the most powerful truth: abundance is a mindset. It’s not about waiting for the “perfect time.” It’s about giving yourself permission to live differently right now, in alignment with your core values. That is freedom. That is abundance.
When you shift your mindset from scarcity to abundance, you stop asking “What should I do?” and start asking “What do I want my life to mean?” You realize debt doesn’t define you, your retirement plan doesn’t own you, and someone else’s definition of success doesn’t have to be yours. Abundance is found in the daily choices to earn, spend, and save in a way that honors your story not someone else’s.
✨ Journal Prompt: Take 10 minutes today and answer this: What does abundance mean to me in time, in money, in relationships, and in freedom? Then ask yourself: Am I living in a way that reflects that definition—or am I chasing someone else’s version of success?
