Description

Welcome to the Love Sweetie Podcast!  In this episode, we review three letters from February and March 1952 - two are from Sweetie's father, Chester Demaree, M.D., who is writing from Iowa, and the third is from Sweetie, who is writing from Doylestown.  Sweetie writes an update regarding her health and recounts a tale that she hears from Lew about something that happened at the Naval base (NAS Willow Grove).  She then notes they acquired a camera at an antique sale and seem to have made a very good deal.  In Chester's letters, we learn about the "Twins" contest that the Des Moines Register had in early 1952 and then Chester indicates that there's an article he's going to forward that will help in making a child a genius.  We review the content of the Des Moines Register from that year to review what Chester is writing about.

Check out the website at www.lovesweetiepodcast.com for the family tree, overall timeline of her story, and information on the previous episodes to catch up as you are able to - there is something in Sweetie's story for everyone!

The Love Sweetie Podcast is a unique historical project that features real letters from Kathryn Frances Demaree Graham a.k.a. "Sweetie" that were written during her lifetime.  These authentic letters are narrated and commented on by the hosts of the show (who give context on what is being discussed).

It should also be noted that the vernacular in the letters, as disclaimed at the beginning of every episode, are part of the real historic text from 1952, and do not reflect the views of anyone associated with the Podcast, including the creator and the hosts.
