Description

This is episode 24 of the Love Sweetie Podcast!  This episode features three letters, all written by Sweetie in May 1944 in Ottumwa, Iowa.  In these letters, Sweetie is anticipating her and Lew's eventual departure from the city, as she realizes that Lew has been stationed at NAS Ottumwa for a long time and most other sailors who were there have already left.  This episode also reviews the historic flooding in Ottumwa, Iowa that occurred in mid-May 1944.

For the Iowa.gov publication regarding Iowa floods that was published in 1966, here is that link: publications.iowa.gov. Just search for that particular document on that website.

Also, we must acknowledge the tragedy that has occurred this fall 2024 in the Southeast portion of the United States as it was impacted by Hurricane Helene.  Here is the link for the American Red Cross if you want to donate to flood relief efforts through that organization: www.redcross.org, which is also mentioned in this episode.
