Endings are sometimes bittersweet.

We are excited for the next leg of the journey.
We want to find out what life has in store for us.
I was asked to put together my best advice for this year's graduates.

I read this to them this week at our Senior Celebration Assembly.

I have taught at the university level for over 32 years.
I have taught at Aurora High School for 20.

I like touting traditions. I love our story and our mascot.
I enjoy teaching. It isn't really something I saw myself doing long-term--ever.

But I fall in love every semester with the kids who walk in and out of m doors.
I try hard to listen to them and look them in the eye.
I want to know what makes them tick. What challenges are they facing?
What are their passions? What can I do to help make a difference?

I want them to know I am a lot like them. I have faced some of the same things.
And Aurora---was always a great place to land.
