In this episode, I’m honored to interview Danielle Franck, whose own pregnancy-loss experience led her to ask important questions about how families are cared for and how information is communicated during pregnancy. Danielle shares how she later learned more about the importance of bed rest in her situation—something her doctor had told her she did not need—and how her experience with the healthcare system ultimately became the motivation behind creating Bereavement Ready. Bereavement Ready is a resource designed to help hospitals evaluate and strengthen the way they care for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. Through a hospital self-assessment, it looks at areas such as policies and procedures, staff education, family-centered care, time with baby, documentation, follow-up care, staff support, and quality improvement. Danielle’s story reminds us why these systems matter and why hospitals need to be prepared not only to provide medical care, but also to communicate clearly, listen to families, and compassionately support them through the devastating experience of losing a baby.
