In our fast-paced, constantly connected world, many believers struggle to hear God's voice, not because they lack desire, but because they lack margin in their lives. We live like jars filled to the brim with marbles - work, family, social media, and endless commitments - leaving no room for anything else, including God. The solution isn't becoming more efficient or multitasking better, but creating intentional space through practices like fasting. Jesus provides the perfect example in Matthew 4, where the Spirit led Him into the wilderness to fast for 40 days before beginning His public ministry. This wasn't punishment but preparation - God wanted to remove the noise before releasing Jesus into His influence. When Satan tempted Jesus to turn stones into bread, the real question was about trust: would Jesus meet His own needs or wait on God? Jesus responded by declaring that man lives by every word from God's mouth, not just physical sustenance. Fasting helps us confront the same fundamental issue humanity has faced since Eden: will we trust God or try to maintain control? By removing distractions - whether food, social media, entertainment, or other activities - we create space for God to speak. The goal isn't what we give up but what we make room for. During a fast, every moment of discomfort becomes an invitation to say God, speak, I'm listening. This practice transforms us by renewing our minds and making us more attentive to God's voice in our daily lives.
Our mission is to multiply God’s Kingdom through being and making disciples everywhere.
Be. Make. Multiply.
