One of our greatest assets is our emotions, yet their complexity is what makes them challenging to tame. We can vocalize what we’re feeling with ease, but comprehending the origin of those emotions is crucial. We’re taught to be compassionate to one another, so where does the misconception of vulnerability stem from? One bad experience is all it takes to alter our perception on what good is supposed to come from “opening up”. Not only do we end up closing people off from seeing that vulnerability, we close a part of ourself from getting to that point. With the lacking ambition to reconcile with being vulnerable, how can we truly comprehend one another?
