Happy Valentines Day from FRE Lunch!
As many prepare to celebrate their loved ones with gifts of chocolate, and candle-lit dinners paired with wine, we sat down with two experts to adjust how the wine industry is adapting to increase resilience in the face of extreme weather events such as wildfire and hail storms.
John Sporing is the former executive director of the American Wine Society, founder and owner of the wine travel and education company A Life Well Drunk, and a lifelong regional economist.
Dr. Jaclyn Kropp is an assistant professor in the UF Food and Resource Economics Department who has recently focused her research on how crop insurance policies on wine grapes have evolved to account for the risk of smoke taint after wildfires.
