You know the feeling.
You are about to make the call, have the conversation, host the open house, or work with the client, and a thought shows up:
I just don’t know enough yet.
So maybe you take another class. Find another script. Watch another training. Listen to another podcast. Tell yourself you will start once you feel a little more prepared.
But how do you know when more training is actually what you need?
In this episode of the Double Duty Agent(r) Podcast, we continue our series on diagnosing the gap between where you are and where you want to be by looking at knowledge. Sometimes knowledge really is the gap. And sometimes “I need to know more” is keeping you from taking the next responsible step.
You’ll learn:
• How to tell whether knowledge is actually the reason you are not moving forward
• Why “I don’t know enough” is too broad to be useful
• The questions to ask yourself before you decide you need more training
• Why making a list of what you already know matters
• What to do when someone asks you a question you do not know how to answer
• How to recognize when training is helping you move forward and when it is becoming a hiding place
• The many ways we gain knowledge beyond taking another class
• Why action itself is often one of the best ways to learn
• How to use the Learn → Act → Discover → Learn → Act Again loop
This week’s coaching question:
Think about one thing in your business you know you need to do but have not been doing.
Ask yourself: What do I already know? What specifically do I still need to know? And if I had that information right now, would I take the action?
If the answer reveals a real knowledge gap, go fill it.
If it does not, keep diagnosing.
Keep the coaching going
