911 At Ease International keeps first responders strong so they can be at their best to serve their communities.
Through 911 PROJECT HARMONY, first responders are paired with professional songwriters to transform their lived experiences into original songs. The creative process supports healing from layered trauma and allows their stories to be not only heard, but felt. “Heart of This Town” is inspired by Pasadena Fire Engineer Chien Yu, who evacuated his family from his Altadena home then fought the Eaton fire for 36 hours while protecting others in his community. When he returned to his home, he found it destroyed. As the heartbreak set in, he sifted through the ashes with his wife and found only the wedding band she had given him. The song features singers/songwriters Jonathan Firey and Randy Spendlove, and it speaks of heroism, commitment, and hope for an entire community.
