Description

In a society that highly values individuality, it is easy to elevate ourselves over others - even over God. We can rationalize the idolatry of self by citing our anxiety, worry, or fear of the opinions of others. These things can cause us to devalue God and rely solely on self-protection, self-provision and self-promotion. The promise and allure of earthly possessions and position make us short-sighted which results in short-circuiting our spiritual destiny. Worshipping at the altar of self is a very dangerous and destructive form of idolatry. Where have you elevated yourself, your comfort, your own wisdom, or your reputation in the eyes of others over obedience to God’s word? It is time for a deep clean.
