means that both sides make a small compromise so they can reach an agreement.
Examples:
1- At work, the deadline felt too tight for the team, but the manager also needed results quickly. They met halfway and agreed on a realistic extension.
2- He wanted to go out for dinner. She wanted to stay home. So they met halfway and ordered takeout instead.
