What is the difference between ACT and SAT?

Roughly 2 million students take the SAT each year, and 1.38 million take the ACT. But what test should you take?

ACT is more popular in the Midwest and South, while the SAT holds more sway on the East and West coasts. However, all U.S. colleges accept both exams equally. Before deciding which test is best for you, consider talking to your school counselors, admissions from a few colleges you're interested in, and take the PSAT and the PreACT to gauge each exam.

ACT (American College Testing) has four parts: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science.

SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) has two main sections: Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing

Between Tides is hosted by Portage Learning. An online educational institution that offers prerequisite and gen-ed courses. Each course is self-directed and flexible. There are no semester start dates, additional fees, or textbook expenses.
