One of the larger challenges that the solar sector faces in trying to expand its installed generation capacity is winning the hearts and minds of the general public.  It is true that the majority of people support their deployment, but it is crucial that we maintain this edge and public acceptance of solar.  One of the areas that can support this is work within our schools, both by installing solar and then educating students, teachers and parents about the values and benefits of clean energy.  It is a great way to help dispel the myths and put a recognisable face onto the renewables industry.

Danielle Parker, The Community & Education Development Manager for Solar for Schools talks through the benefits and the processes that schools follow to install and benefit from the technology.  With nearly 400 schools nationally using their services, Solar for Schools is the largest maintainer of primary and secondary school solar.  They have a huge appetite to continue their work and the funds to support this roll out.

Listen to this podcast to hear about schools engagement and how to change people’s perceptions of renewables.
