The Institutes of Technology (IoT) were invented in 2019 to support businesses in England, in technical industries, to find the right new recruits, who were technology aware, capable and competent to join technical businesses. Technical businesses was drafted widely to include construction skills, so that students were aware of the changes in their sectors and retained a sense of curiosity that could sustain them through their chosen career.
Professor Rosa Wells is the Chair of the Institutes of Technology Network and also the Principal at University College Birmingham. She is experienced across higher and further education, making her the ideal person to lead an organisation that seeks to support businesses across a wide range of sectors with an even wider selection of skilled and trained students. Rosa talks about the structure of IoTs and how businesses can get engaged with them, to acquire students with the skills needed to run their companies. Rosa also talks about the opportunity within the IoT network for continuing education for all of us working within construction and energy to remain qualified, capable and up to date, recognising our statutory duty to remain competent.
Listen if you need to understand how IoTs work, how to engage with them and how to get maximum value for your company.
