Can cultivating self-love truly be the key to transforming your mental and emotional well-being? On today's episode of the Heal Yourself Podcast, we break down this powerful concept with hosts Denise and Kira. Discover why self-love is far from selfish and how it serves as the foundation for healthier food choices, better exercise habits, and stronger boundaries in relationships.
Our suggested activity:
- Write down the negative/critical statements you tell yourself (no judgment); then reframe that statement to a positive one with “I am”, “I”. Example: my life is a mess can be reframed to “I am willing to release the pattern in me that created these conditions” OR “I am in the process of positive changes.”
- Start small and choose one affirmation per week, per month, whatever works for you and say that repeatedly in your mind, looking at a mirror or put it on a post it note. As long as you repeat it over and over again to replace the old beliefs, this will slowly start shifting things. Make sure the affirmations aren't too far fetched though. We want them to be a stretch, but believable.
- Regarding old beliefs, you can always question if they are yours or if they’re even true. Let’s say you tell yourself “I am not good enough.” Is this really true? Where did you hear that? Is this your belief or you learned it somewhere? Sometimes debunking these stories we tell ourselves can lead to profound shifts.
