The Gospel Twins wanted to do another episode on Black History Month, a part two. On this episode, the G.T.’s reviews and discusses the podcast Reveal and their three-part episode called “40 Acres and a Lie”. The podcast dives deep into the reality that over 1200 freed slaves received land titles from the government.  Due to political pressure and the return of former slaveholders after the war, these former slaves were forced to give up their promised land effectively negating the promise. This epic failure significantly hampered the ability of formerly enslaved people to build wealth through land ownership, contributing to the persisting racial wealth gap in this country. The G.T.’s also wanted to celebrate Black History Month by reflecting on life growing up in a predominantly black city Inkster Michigan in the 80s.
