This time, we were honored to welcome our guests, Kathy Van Benthuysen and John Schwind, the Co-founders of Digital Prep Academy. Kathy and John founded this company as a direct response to the rising connection crisis and the urgent need to prepare children before handing them a phone or giving them access to social media. They continue to strive to solve one of the biggest parenting dilemmas: How to raise kids who are truly ready for the digital world. Their work focuses on the importance of hiring a coach. Kids hear things differently when it comes from someone other than their parents, and coaching changes how kids hear information. Kathy and John have an established program running in schools, called Converlation, which helps kids address the important aspects that come along with entering the world of technology. They started this episode by asking Cindy and I to pick affirmations. We read them at the beginning of the show and again at the end-something they do with their students and with each other every day. This episode comes at a time where mental health issues in children, such as anxiety, depression, and loneliness, are at an all time high.
