Your schedule doesn’t set the direction of your life, your heart does. I’m reading Proverbs 4:23 and slowing down long enough to feel the weight of it: “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” That’s not poetic advice, it’s spiritual strategy. If the heart is the control center of our thoughts, desires, values, and choices, then protecting it is one of the most practical forms of Christian discipleship.
I talk through why the Bible’s idea of “heart” goes far beyond feelings. What we allow into our inner world eventually shows up in our words, actions, decisions, and relationships. And let’s be honest: this world is not gentle with your heart. We’re constantly bombarded by distractions, temptations, pressure, and lies that shape us quietly over time. That’s why spiritual boundaries matter, what we watch, what we listen to, who we spend time with, and what we keep replaying in our minds.
We also connect this to Luke 6:45 and the picture of the heart as a storehouse. Feed it with garbage and weeds grow. Fill it with God’s truth, prayer, worship, and wise counsel and you start to see good fruit: peace, purity, purpose, and steady passion. I’ll close with a quick heart audit and a simple invitation to reset the gate with the help of the Holy Spirit.
