Send us your questions and reflections!

On Day 15 of our Advent series, we step into one of the most striking victories in the Old Testament: Gideon and his tiny army facing the massive Midianite army. God’s instructions seem unusual—march at night, carry torches hidden in jars, blow trumpets, and shout. And yet, through these seemingly strange steps, God brings victory. The fire in the jars not only illuminates but symbolizes God’s purifying and refining work.

This episode explores what it means to wait well by allowing God to cleanse and transform us. Waiting isn’t always passive. Sometimes it involves periods of refinement, discomfort, or challenge. God uses these moments to prepare our hearts so we can receive His promises fully.

John the Baptist reminds us that Jesus will baptize with the Spirit and fire. Just like the fire in Gideon’s story, the Holy Spirit works in us to purify, refine, and equip us for God’s purposes. Waiting well, then, is trusting this process, being open to transformation, and receiving God’s work as a gift.

Listeners are invited to reflect and act: identify an area in your life where God might be doing a refining work, pause, and invite the Spirit to transform your heart. Pay attention to small ways He is shaping and purifying you while you wait.

Waiting well is about trusting God’s refining work, participating with faith, and anticipating His promises with hope. Just as Gideon’s army experienced victory through God’s power, and Jesus brings cleansing through the Spirit, we can trust that God is actively preparing us for the life He has promised.
