What sustains your faith after a powerful spiritual moment has passed? How do you keep following Jesus through ordinary days, unexpected challenges, and seasons when you feel spiritually unprepared?
In “Grace for the Next Mile,” Pastor Evan Ryder begins Week 5 of The Journey on Rediscovering Faith with a reflection on God’s sustaining grace—the grace that continues to nourish, strengthen, and form us throughout the Christian life.
We remember extraordinary meals, but ordinary meals nourish us every day. In the same way, God meets us through consistent practices of faith: Scripture, prayer, fellowship, Communion, and caring for others.
Drawing from Jude 1:24–25 and Acts 2:42–47, this episode explores how the extraordinary events of Pentecost opened into the early church’s shared, daily life with Jesus. The God who welcomed us into the journey continues to provide what we need for the next step.
In this episode:
• Discover how sustaining grace helps us grow beyond significant spiritual experiences.
• Explore how everyday Christian practices nourish our relationship with God.
• Reflect on God’s ability to keep us from stumbling.
• Identify where you feel spiritually unprepared and recognize the support God may already be providing.
These practices are ways to receive and respond to God’s love. We don’t earn his grace; we learn to live in it.
Scripture: Jude 1:24–25; Acts 2:42–47
Your Travel Log reflection:
Where in my life do I feel spiritually unprepared right now? What support might God already be providing, and how can I receive it?
The Journey is a series exploring God’s grace and what it means to follow Jesus day by day, drawing on the themes of Way, Truth, Life by Dr. David Busic.
