What does it look like to wait well when hope feels completely gone?

In today’s episode, we return to the closing chapter of Ruth’s story—but we see it through the eyes of Naomi. Once full of life and promise, Naomi returns to Bethlehem bitter, grieving, and convinced that God has emptied her hands. She even asks to be renamed Mara, meaning “bitter.” Naomi shows us what not waiting well can look like—isolating ourselves, pushing away help, and assuming God’s goodness has ended.

But her story doesn’t stop there.

Through Ruth’s relentless loyalty and Boaz’s generous redemption, Naomi slowly begins to see that God may still be at work. Hope is reignited. Faith is restored. And what once felt like an ending becomes a new beginning—one that leads all the way to King David, and ultimately to Jesus.

Boaz acts as a redeemer who goes above and beyond what is required, pointing us to Christ—the Redeemer who did not have to save us, but chose to give everything for our restoration.

This episode invites us to consider how waiting well doesn’t mean denying pain, but staying open to the people, grace, and redemption God may be quietly providing—even when hope feels risky.
