Send us your questions and reflections!
What happens when you pray for relief, but the difficulty remains? Does an unanswered prayer mean God has forgotten you—or that your faith isn’t strong enough?
In “When the Thorn Remains,” Pastor Evan Ryder explores 2 Corinthians 12:7–10, where Paul pleads for his thorn in the flesh to be removed and receives Jesus’ promise: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Continuing our final week of The Journey on Rediscovering Faith, this Christian devotional makes room for honest questions, persistent suffering, and prayers that have not received the answer we hoped for. Paul’s experience reminds us that weakness does not place us beyond the reach of God’s grace or prevent Christ from working through us.
In this episode, reflect on:
• Paul’s thorn in the flesh and his heartfelt request for relief.
• Why asking God for healing and change is an expression of dependence.
• How Christ’s power can sustain us amid unresolved suffering.
• Bringing an unfinished story to Jesus without pretending everything is okay.
If you’re facing ongoing hardship, grief, or unanswered prayer, take a few quiet moments to hear Christ’s promise and bring him what still hurts. You can continue asking for relief while receiving his grace today.
