English Worship is an open house where everyone is welcome no matter who they are, where they come from, or where they are on their spiritual journey. But the Bible says that the church is not a building, it’s people! You and me.
God’s heart is for us, as his church, to be an open house. To open our lives to others, welcome them in and love them because that’s what He did for us.
Deuteronomy 10:19 So you, too, must show love to foreigners, for you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.
Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. But many of us don’t love our neighbor simply because we don’t know our neighbor. We live so focused on our own life and problems that we become blind to the people that God has placed around us. We forget that we were once foreigners too (both physically and spiritually).
As followers of Jesus, we get to do life with God every day. And what we have received, we now get to share with others. Intentionally doing life with the people around us, opening up ourselves to share the love of God with them in everyday things. A simple invitation to coffee or dinner can be the first step to someone encountering Jesus.
