Too often, prayer is our last resort. The well known and well used phrase, “when all else fails, pray” sounds noble, but in fact misses a very important point. Prayer should not be a last resort, but rather a first response! Prayer is not intended to be a tool designed for certain tight spots in life, but a daily habit and vital part of our spiritual formation! Effective prayer will have a believer deliberately and regularly seeking the mind of God on matters of the heart.
