Description

A 93-year-old memoirist, three years into life at a retirement community, offers a candid and poignant look at his final years. Having finally closed his "legacy project" and moved from the family home he shared with his late wife, Louise, he reveals a deep weariness and longing for "extinction," despite his family's loving support.

The story takes an unexpected turn when his son, Wayd, arranges for a 60 Minutes interview sparked by a late CBS journalist's memoir. The interview, hosted by a descendant of a former U.S. President, forces the narrator to reflect on his vast output of self-published books and art.

This episode is a moving juxtaposition of physical and mental decline with a surprising final moment of national recognition, framed by the enduring love for his family and the cherished, yet now silent, memory of his wife. It is a profound meditation on the bittersweet act of aging with intention.
