Description

The prologue introduces George Stanbelt, a 78-year-old man reflecting on his life, health challenges, and concerns about aging. Despite surviving a near-fatal medical emergency at 36 and dealing with ongoing health issues, he remains active and capable of managing his daily life. However, he often worries about the inevitable decline that comes with aging and wonders how long he can maintain his independence. Inspired by the humor and resilience of comedians Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, and Norman Lear—who found joy and laughter in their old age—George reflects on their famous "2000 Year Old Man" comedy routine and their ability to embrace aging with humor. He draws hope from their example and resolves to face his own journey with a similar outlook. The prologue sets the stage for George to share his story and explore the challenges and joys of growing older.
