“I’m open to creative solutions.” That one sentence helped me move through my most challenging career experience yet, and today we’re digging into how.

Two weeks ago, I left you in the valley in fall 2023. This week is the climb. It’s the baby steps and the small, unglamorous things I did to slowly inch my way out. It wasn’t a straight line, and it took a lot longer than I wanted. Honestly, I’m still pitter-pattering up the mountain, stopping for water breaks along the way.

This is the part of the story I couldn’t find anyone talking about when I needed it: what you actually do while you’re in it. It covers selling our house, moving onto a boat, losing two dreams at once, and learning that slow really is fast.
In this episode, we talk about:

• Why my mantra wasn’t “manifest $100K,” and why something broader felt more believable
• The small win I’m proud of: getting out of bed before 10 a.m. every single day
• A friend’s hard question (“What if you sell your house?”) and why it was part of the answer, but not the whole answer
• America’s Great Loop, and how a decision can be an adventure and a financial one at the same time

A few moments that stood out:

• Looking up at the crown molding in our blue house, terrified… and quietly relieved
• “It doesn’t really matter how fast you make choices, but it does matter how the choices feel.”
• Steering the boat out of the channel slowly, and realizing recovery works the same way
• A DM from a high school friend that gave us a place to land

If you’re somewhere in the middle of your own climb right now, this one’s for you. You don’t need the giant leap. Just the next small step… and a little openness to whatever creative solution shows up.
