When you take someone at their word you’re making a decision (then and there) to trust they will come through on what they’ve said. This is the essence of faith in Jesus. But what does it look like to takeJesus at his word? To live our lives on the basis that his word is true? In John 4-5 we meet two men in the midst of deep anguish and desperation, fear and hopelessness. Jesus does for them what they cannot do for themselves–all the while teaching us what it looks like to hold onto what he says.
