Description

Amy Kappelman Chapter Chair, Moms for Liberty Chatham County, NC & State Ambassador is filled with conviction, faith, and grit that has carried her through leadership, hardship, and advocacy. Grounded in the mantras “Stay in the fight,” “Endure to the end,” and “Have tenacity,” Amy reflects on lessons instilled by her parents, especially her father’s unwavering message: never give up.

Amy’s most difficult season of her leadership: navigating family challenges at home while serving as chapter chair. With her husband out of work, starting a new business, and caring for four children, quitting would have been understandable, but it was never an option. She explains why she stayed: because perseverance is what she was taught, what she witnessed growing up, and what she believes is required when few are willing to stand up for what’s right.

Rejecting the label of “activist,” Amy describes her work as simply living out her beliefs by putting faith, family, and truth first, and stepping forward when others won’t. She recounts an early defining moment for the chapter: a fourth-grade student told she could not bring her Bible to school as her favorite book. When the child’s father reached out, Amy rallied local community members including John Amanchukwu to speak out at the school board meeting.  This episode titled Be the Light is a reminder that leadership isn’t about having extra time or perfect circumstances, it’s about resolve, faith, and choosing to stay in the fight, no matter the cost.
