Old Jed Thumper is furious that Peter Rabbit remains in the Old Pasture despite his attempts to drive him out and vows to capture him. Unbeknownst to Jed, his daughter, Miss Fuzzytail, overhears his plans.
As Jed sets out, Miss Fuzzytail cleverly uses thumping sounds to misdirect him, sending him on fruitless chases around the Old Pasture, thus protecting Peter, who rests safely on his sunning-bank.
