Today Pastor Dustin Clegg continues with the Free! series as we take a look at Galatians 5:1-15.
Dustin points out that there are 2 things that can derail our freedom:
(1) Sin (Hebrews 12:1-2) and (2) believing false messages (Gal 5:7).
What are some characteristics of a counterfeit message? (1) Jesus is not quite enough; (2) We are subject to 1 or 2 or a few of the laws; (3) A turn from the doctrine of grace; and (4) A loss of future righteousness.
What are some characteristics of false followers? (1) They distract from obedience to the truth; (2) They aren't from Jesus; (3) They always involve others in their false beliefs; (4) They will be and probably already are being judged; and (5) They will come after people/teachers of the truth.
How do we apply this? Always filter everything we do through love of Jesus and love of others.
