Today we celebrate the baptism of Dustin and Beth's son, Jud. Then Pastor Dustin Clegg opens the Word to 1 Samuel 18:1-9 as we continue in our current series about the life of King David. We see in verses 1-4 that loving ourselves rightly precedes loving our neighbors best. In verses 5-9 we see that finding our identity in anything (even God's callings, blessings, mission, ministry, etc...) other than a valued son or daughter of Jesus is a deep spiritual and mental pit that is difficult to climb out of.
How do we apply this? (1) You have permission ultimately and most importantly from Jesus, but also TBC to love yourself and take care of yourself. And (2) Believe the One who loves you best.
