Volkanic Skill Playing Card 🌋: Selling Yourself

As young people it's easy to think that the change is only happening to our generation i.e. education in covid, navigating a job market in an era of AI, lack of opportunity, rising unemployment but further along the line, there are those who are older than us and some could argue "with greater responsibilities" who are also being impacted by redundancies, job cuts and an inability to find work after years in their fields despite ample experience.

The change is happening to everyone and selling yourself isn't a human skill limited to early talent and those just starting out, its a skill you'll need throughout your career to up-sell your expertise, gain new opportunities and pivot if you have to.

Carolyn (GEN-X) has done just that, decades into her career "selling yourself" is a skill she uses to this day. She is the inspirational founder of Emmeline AI, she has navigated a couple of technological shifts (dot com bubble) and economic changes during her time and like all our guests she takes us on a trip down memory lane and shares what life looks like for young-people today compared to GEN-X, are there more challenges or opportunities?

In an increasingly competitive world touched by AI, Carolyn shares why "selling yourself" is key for the younger generation...

...They always say it's who you know and selling yourself is a way to build your network and that's great but if developed right "selling yourself" makes people think of YOU when an opportunity arises. 🤔
