In full transparency, this was the podcast I taped a few months back, right after I almost quit before I had even uploaded the first episode. What made me almost quit? FEAR. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of saying the wrong thing, fear of perpetuating diet culture, fear of perpetuating fat phobia...etc. I ended up pushing past that fear and moving forward with starting this podcast, because at the end of the day, stepping outside of your comfort zone is where the magic happens.
Ultimately, I may say the wrong thing at times, but hopefully people can understand my intent is always good and I am truly passionate about this topic, which is why I began this podcasting journey in the first place. Now that it's the New Year, I am even more determined to keep putting one foot in front of the other and consistently put out content that I am personally interested in.
This podcast is a review of the Dear Media Studio show "Food Heaven" which features hosts Jessica Jones and Wendy Lopez, who are also Registered Dieticians. In this episode they discuss the Racial Origins of Fat Phobia w/ author Sabrina Strings, which was a fascinating conversation. I intertwine a review of The Taylor Strecker Show when she had co-host Mackenzie Green on and Mackenzie further illuminated this topic in very important ways.
If you are interested in the intersection of racism, diet culture and fat phobia, you will love this episode. Tune in and enjoy!
