Bookstores are clogged with thousands of self-help books — the first problem of which is what we cannot help ourselves. God must help us. Then we look at some of the most commonly used self-help, success books on the market. We find that they tend to tout the wrong worldview, setting man’s sovereign will against the sovereignty of God. Then faith is placed more in self than in God. When both goal and motive is wrong, can we trust the method will be the right one?
