In this episode of The Muddy Cross Podcast we ask the question, What is Church?

As we have moved between communities and travelled, we've often been away from a physical Sunday service, which led us to rethink what Scripture actually teaches. Is church a building, a weekly event or something far more meaningful?

We explore the bibical roots of Ekklesia - the early church as a gathering of people united in worship, prayer and shared life. Church wasn't a location; it was a community, a spiritual family.

Through verses like Matthew 18:20, Acts 2, and Corinthians 3, we look at how the early believers lived; breaking bread, supporting each other, serving quietly and meeting God together in everyday moments.

We discuss how modern Christianity sometimes shifts the focus towards buildings and programs and why it's vital to remember that the people are the church. Our relationship with God and one another is what truly defines the Body of Christ - not the place we meet.

This episode is an invitation to rediscover church as a living community. A family that gathers, serves, loves, forgives and walks the narrow path together with Christ at the centre.

As Jesus commands in Matthew 28:19-20, we are called to go, make disciples and trust that He is with us always.
