Some of us are not good at receiving free gifts. Even when a friend covers lunch, something in us can want to pay it back. But grace doesn’t work that way—and the cross proves it.

In this episode, we reflect on Jesus’ words to Nicodemus: “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.” Not vaguely. Not passively. But sacrificially. Jesus was lifted up—on a cross, in our place—so that we could step out of darkness and into life.

Did You Know?
The Greek word for "lifted up" (hypsoo) means both to physically elevate and to glorify—Jesus' crucifixion was also His exaltation.

Quote:
"The cross is not the absence of love, but the measure of it." — Elisabeth Elliot

Prayer:
God of love, I don’t deserve this gift. But I receive it. Lift my eyes to Your Son and let me live in Your light.
