Forgiveness Is Central to the Gospel
The entire message of Christianity rests on forgiveness. We are forgiven because of Christ.
Colossians 1:13–14 tells us that through Jesus we have redemption and the forgiveness of sins. That means every believer lives because mercy was extended. No one stands before God because they earned it. We stand because grace covered us.
So when Jesus speaks about forgiving others, He is connecting our lives to the same grace we received. We forgive because we have been forgiven. Forgiveness doesn’t erase what happened. It releases the weight you were never meant to carry.
