Christians should expect suffering in this world, because trials are part of following Christ, but they are never meaningless. These sufferings are joined to Christ’s own, and in the same measure that trials increase, God also provides comfort and strength through Christ. Therefore, believers can rejoice even in hardship, knowing that their consolation comes directly from the Holy Spirit, who is with them always.
