Description

This sermon explains that when Jesus came to earth to save people, He chose to become a human instead of an angel, even though becoming an angel would have been less of a step down from being God. Spurgeon argues that God decided to save some humans but not any of the fallen angels (demons), and this shows God's right to choose who He saves—not because humans are better or more valuable than angels, but simply because God chose to save humans out of His own free will. The message emphasizes that if people truly understand they deserve punishment but God chose to save them anyway, they should be grateful and humble rather than complaining that God's choices seem unfair.

A sermon delivered by Charles Spurgeon on June 29, 1856.
