Feel like you're barely hanging on as a Christian? Like you're too weak, worthless, or messed up for God to care about you? This encouraging message uses the picture of a "bruised reed" (a broken plant) and "smoking flax" (a dying flame) to show how gently Jesus treats struggling believers. Instead of throwing away weak Christians, Jesus carefully protects and strengthens them. No matter how small or failing you feel, Jesus promises to never break you or snuff you out - He'll help you win in the end.
Sermon delivered by Charles Spurgeon on February 4, 1855.
