Description

Christians are called into a lifelong battle against the world’s temptations, customs, persecutions, and even its flattery, yet they are promised certain victory. This triumph comes not by human strength but by being “born of God” and living in the power of faith, which clings to Christ and resists both the world’s threats and its charms. Faith fixes its hope on God’s promises, making the believer steadfast, courageous, and ultimately victorious over sin and the world.

A sermon delivered by Charles Spurgeon on March 18, 1855.
