In Jesus' letter (through John the Revelator) to the church in Pergamum, he speaks against the subtle seeping in of pagan culture into the church. It was a very clear and present problem, as the society of that day was becoming increasingly hostile to Christianity. Is the church today fighting this same battle? Is there a standard of absolute truth to use as a yardstick in our modern context to keep us from doctrinal compromise while using every method allowable to share the Gospel?
